Coulthard fastest after first day

(24-Jul-98) - David Coulthard hit back for McLaren in the afternoon free
practice session for tomorrow's Austrian Grand Prix. Closely matched by
Giancarlo Fisichella in the Benetton, he reeled off a set of laps that left
the opposition, including team mate Mika Hakkinen reeling in his wake.

In a session that saw numerous spinners, most at the daunting final A1
Kurve, world championship contender Michael Schumacher was left struggling
in the midfield behind some unusual names - the greasy surface, cleaned by
last nights thunderstorm, allowing names like Johnny Herbert, Rubens
Barrichello and Alex Wurz a brief shot at glory.
