-=> Quoting Fred Reich to Bruce Clark <=-
FR> I've been using Juno for about 1 1/2 years now, and I noticed that on
FR> my hard drive that I have about 176 sub directories under "Ads".
FR> So is it safe to delete most of these directories?
BC> Delete the entire ADS directory.
BC> JUNO will remake it with the nesseccary files in it, the
BC> next time you start the program.
FR> Are you sure this will work without screwing up the Juno program?
FR> Sounds too easy.
I thought so too, at first, but I took to deleting that
directory with everything in it, everytime I exited JUNO
and nothing bad happened.
BC> Get rid of ads permanently (at least in JUNO v1.38)
BC> Change to \JUNO\LIB directory.
BC> Copy JUNOTYPE.MAP to JUNOTYPE.OLD
BC> Using a TEXT editor, open JUNOTYPE.MAP
BC> Delete this line: filetype aa AD_ARCHIVE server
BC> Save file.
BC> JUNO won't know where to put ad files, so they get deleted
BC> with all the other temporary files.
BC> Every once in a while something shows up in:
BC> \JUNO\USER####\GET directory
BC> So check and delete as the case may be.
FR> This sounds too confusing; I will try your first suggestion.
If you know someone who knows how to modify an AUTOEXEC.BAT
or WIN.INI or SYSTEM.INI get them to help.
The JUNOTYPE.MAP is a straight text file.
