Ferrari concerned about lack of pace (24-Jul-98) - Ferrari duo Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine were left concerned and worried after the opening practice sessions for the Austrian Grand Prix. Schumacher could manage no better than seventh, while Irvine did slightly better to wind up fifth. "Today we had a few more difficulties than expected," explained Schumacher. "On my first run a front wheel locked up and I went off the track. I lost the rest of the morning session while the mechanics worked on the car to repair the damage. "In the afternoon, I had a similar situation -- this time a rear wheel locked up. This menat our programme for the day was incomplete and the gap to the front is too big. "We will have a lot of work to do tomorrow to be more competitive in qualifying." Irvine added, "My biggest concern is tyres. We have problems with both performance and wear and I used two sets. I had no problems that were not linked to tyres, as they are the critical factor in setter up the car." --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
