We both quite liked it (and we saw all the extant Who back in the 80s,
so we know the show about as well as any Yanks can). In a few places,
it reminded both of us rather explicitly of B5.

Of a certain key line in "Comes the Inquisitor", to be specific -- and
the singing Ood seemed a parallel to Vir's tale of Londo and the
singing pak'ma'ra in "Sleeping in Light".
As serious drama, of course, "Who" has never compared to B5, but the
new show has generally been far better than could ever have been
expected from what was intended 46 years ago as a non-prime-time kiddy
show. And there is something astounding in a single actor playing
Hamlet at the RSC at the same time as playing the lead in that ex-
kiddy show. Chalk one up for Britain's refusal to institute a caste
system among actors.
