RS> I am thinking that I should really have a copy of said text.
RS> Would you consider it to be indispensable to the student of C++?
RS> Can you recommend any other indispensable books I can look into?
Yes I think it is a book well worth obtaining. The full info is :
"The C++ Programming Language, 3rd Edition"
by Bjarne Stroustrup,
1997, Addison Wesley
ISBN 0-201-88954-4
The date I gave you may have been for the 2nd Edition. You really
do want the 3rd Edition since it covers the new ANSI standard upon
which (I assume) all future C++ compilers will be based. As far as
other books, that depends upon your interests. The above pretty
much covers all of the bases, and is straight from the Horses' Mouth,
since Bjarne was the original designer! If you search the web for
"bjarne stroustrup" you will get a link to Bjarnes' home page. On
that page he has a list of recommended books and other information.
Best of Luck
Peter
