PK> Hello. I just want to make a comment to all of those kids out there who
dr
PK> alcohol. I am very much against drinking. All of my friends drink,
ecause
PK> they think it's a cool thing to do. When ever I go to a party they think
I'
PK> loser because I don't drink or they'll say something like " I wish I was
li
PK> you but I have to drink because I'm addicted". I think that drinking
makes
PK> kids look ridiculous. I think it's a bunch of crap when you say that your
PK> addicted. So don't drink in the first place. Find some self-confidence
and
PK> against peer pressure. I have to give credit to myself considering the
fact
PK> that everyone I know drinks and they try to get me to drink, and I don't.
PK> Anyways, another point is that beer tastes bad. It's disgusting. I know
tha
PK> you don't like the taste. Drink some iced tea or something. I have to
ive
PK> credit to you that are trying to stop, because I know it's really hard.
But
PK> for you dumb teenagers out there I'm going to have to tell you to get a

PK>
PK> P.s sorry if I offended anyone.
Paul, I appreciate that you do not condone the use of Drugs and Alcohol, and
that you feel that there should be no reason a person should become addicted
to same. But I wish to inform you from another perspective, that of an
Addict/Alcoholic, the reasons and ease in which this becomes a problem.
I started drinking around the age of ten or eleven. I drank as a release
rom
of the emotional pain and trauma of abuse. The drink took away the feelings,
and gave me a new courage. However I eventually also couldn't escape the
reality with Alcohol alone. Someone introduced me to other mind altering
chemicals such as Phenylcyclophine (PCP), Lysergic Diathalimide (LSD) and
Heroin. These chemicals altered my mood and perception so much that they
became my sole source of identity.
Addictions of all sorts are cunning, baffling, and powerful. What may start
out as being fun can and will kill you. So people whom succumb to peer
pressure, can and may have addiction problems.
Please do not down those of us in recovery for we have found that we can have
a better life without our addicitions. But the one thing we do keep in mind
is, How we were, What it was like, and where we are at today.
Whenever I see an active addict/alcoholic and know that the person hasn't
ome
close to reaching their bottom and refuses all help, I say to myself But for
the Grace of My Higher Power there Go I.
The memory is there forever and no one fully recovers from this insidious
disease.
Yours in Unity and Recovery
