okay, maybe that can be a fun project for the group - who can come up
with a rhyming, rap-like version of the 12 steps?
.
I am truly evil - GRIN!
.
Also this month our topic is probably step 11 and I'm glad. Prayer and
meditation are what keeps me alive. (Maybe that's because the
meditation I do uses the breathe for a focal point?) This to me is
kind of odd seeing that when I first came around AA I was allergic to
these concepts - having been really badly burnt religiously speaking,
in the past. Meditation came first to me because the idea of a more
personalized Higher Power was alien to me. I was sober four years
before I tried prayer and I still struggle with it. Today my prayer is
often "show me HOW to pray".
.
The hardest part of step 11 for me is the part that says we ask only
for knowledge of the Higher Power's will for us and the power to carry
it out. I still want to write my letter to Santa and ask for what I
want. Of course it doesn't always happen that way and then I pout.
Fortunately the Higher Power really does tolerate me in all phases on
this process. (GRIN) But it is easier ON ME when I go along with what
the Higher Power is doing rather than expect the cosmos to change to
meet my demands.
