Clorox. Yes that smelly nasty stuff that you hate to use is great for
kicking the rear out of this nasty white stuff that you get. Also known as
algie or mold. It's the same problem we all have down south with our air
conditioners. If you have an interior drain for your indoor air conditioning
unit then you have mold and algie. You can use it straight, if you are only
going to use it for a short time, or you can dilute it with a high water
solution to kill the mold on a regular basis.
If you use it straight, then be sure that you rinse with a clear water
solution mixed with a bit of baking soda to help kill odor.
If you use it diluted, and keep it in the trap for awhile, then use a
quarter cup of clorox, or other bleach, to a gallon of water. Pour however
much you need into the trap, and save the rest for when the other needs to be
changed. Down here it's when enough roaches, i.e. water bugs, have fallen in
to make it smell bad. (Grin.)
Bright Blessings
