  So many of the bases are now closed and it is hard to really keep up with 
them. I have visited the old housing area of some and they now look like 
slums. Make me whince.
(That is the polite word.)
 Seems many think we will never need a military or Air
 Force again... I remember Truman and his Secretary
 Johnson after WW II when there would be no more need
 for flyers... Then the Berlin airlift and Korea.  I
 was recalled in Jan 1951... :( and when that was over
 I had no job to return to... stayed in...
