-> Checking my references, the Hawk first appeared in '56, in "Flight
-> Hawk", "Power Hawk", "Shy Hawk" and "Golden Hawk" versions, but it
-> was definitely a "descendent" of the '53 "Lowey Coupe" Starliners.
Yep! I had two out of the four. A Flight Hawk which was a Champion
six, and a Power Hawk which was a 259 V-8. The Sky Hawk had a 289 and
the 56 Golden hawk had a 400 cu inch Packard. (Which was GODAWFUL
heavy!) But would light the tires for at least half a block.
Oh, almost forgot. The Flight Hawk and the Power Hawk were coupes. The
Sky Hawk and Golden Hawks were Starliners. There's a very subtle
difference there. The coupes had frames around the door glass, the
Starlights were true hard tops and the doors were troublesome. Of
course the Starliners were the prettiest!
The 1955 version was called a "Speedster" and very few were made.
It was a Starliner version too.
