What are you talking about, Jacob? Of course there is.

There is nothing 'outlandish' about that. It has happened with other languages,
too. But that was no obstacle for them to be languages, either.

So, for example, Latin American Spanish is a mix of many words with Latin roots,
a few with Arabic roots, a few with roots from the languages spoken in Spain
before the Roman Conquest, and then lots of Indian words from the Americas. And
on top of that, they too, have lots of more modern foreign imports, largely from
English, but certainly not _only_ from English.

>French is dying
>because they are tryiing to keep it "pure".

That is certainly a controversial claim. I see French news broadcasts every now
and then on the International Channel, and the language certainly does not sound
like it is 'dying' to me. If it were, a French song by a French singer would not
have become so popular on the Spanish language radio stations in the US. But it
has ("Tu m' a promis" [sp?]).

And now for another controversial claim: the efforts to keep it 'pure' being
largely the fruit of the Academy of the French Language, it is really the common
people with their 'Franglais' who keep the language alive;)

Finally, despite Bart's puerile response, 'garage', although in origin French,
really IS an English word. 'Outre' is not a word in any language. WIth an
accent, it is.
