Try with a different telnet client first.. Say, windows' telnet.exe.. if 
that freezes too then its an ele problem. If telnet.exe doesnt freeze, 
its an mtel problem.

(This is all assuming that telnet.exe does ansi.. and since I havent 
used it in years, I dont know)
