The character is a tab (The HT stands for Horizontal Tab), which will usually
be translated into 8 spaces (or whatever the tab width is set to).
I think you have to have tabs-out mode off, so that it will output spaces
instead of tabs.

Actually, politics does pay--quite a bit. That's one of the problems of
it... But of course the politicians don't care. Anyhoo... :-)
