Hi Brenton

BV> If it's really better and I can afford it. I reckon I must have

BV> driven the electricians mad today. They did the rough-in on the

BV> wiring and I had to pull all of my cables too. Roy would be proud,

BV> I got them to stick two lights in the roof cavity with a switch

BV> right next to the man-hole. I've got a double GPO up there too.

Yay!! You won't regret it, trust me

BV> I had a close look at where the light switches were as you moved

BV> through the house, and made some of them 3-way and one 4-way instead

 BV> of just 2-way.

Hmm. It's easy to use a simple spdt switch to do an even number (2

way, 4 way, 6 way), but to do odd numbers needs 2 pole switches.

I'm out of touch here - are 2 poles readily available?

BV> I added about 6 lights and 4 more power points, but

 BV> it's right now.

Are there enough power points in the kitchen? and are they in the

right places? We put a double inside the appliance cupboard, and a

double at the other end of the sink benchtop. In practice, the

first gpo is overpopulated (it shouldabina 4), the second gets used

only by the vacuum cleaner.

Which reminds me - did you consider a built in vacuum cleaner? I

saw a buy-me on tv the other day that nearly converted me. There

are two main pluses: (a) the hose connected to the bits you push

around is big, 9 metres long (according to them...)(and I dunno

where it gets stored when not in use) so not many wall/floor

outlets are needed, and (b) the exhaust is not inside the house, so

the superfine grot that actually gets through doesn't stay inside

the house or in the lungs of the occupants. My main objection is to

the maintenance of the pipes. I have a 4 inch pvc pipe from the

clothes drier to the laundry window, and the fluff that accumulates

inside it would keep a medium sized brothel running.

Cheers
