Could have been a transplant.  I used a 57 Corvette dual point in my 65 
Chevelle. Kept it when I traded the Chevelle for a 68 Camaro.  Then used it 
later when I bought my 63 Corvette.  After that, the HEI was on the scene and 
 I let it go with the Vette.  Still have the gap, dwell and other stuff tape 
markered to the top of my old racing tool box.
