Ed, EV>Tonight at Church I learned that 200 Years ago, December 24, 1818, EV>the song Silent Night, Holy Night was sung for the first time at EV>a Church in Austria because their Church Organ had broke down. EV>Someone played a Guitar as the Choir sang the song. I've seen a couple of funny cartoons on church organists. One was from the "Monkeyshines" calendar...where they dress chimpanzees in outfits, and put them into a setting, then caption the picture. One has this female chimp at the organ, saying "And, would you believe I've never had a lesson in my life??!!". But, my favorite Moneyshines cartoon was where a male and female chimp are on this bench, and the caption says "Hi, Clarence. Your wife and I were just sitting here waiting for the bus!!" . The other funny organist cartoon, shows this old lady in front of the organ, with a shotgun, and she yells "Anybody else offended by my playing??!!" . Also, I understand that one of the ham radio operators in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Ohio, Bob Heil, K9EID, is also an excellent organist. Besides making a huge line of fine microphones (they can get pricey but they are of good quality), used by ham radio operators and entertainers, Bob also has a wicked sense of humor. Several years ago, I had gone to "Ham Holiday" in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tim Duffy, K3LR, one of ham radio's biggest contestors, went to introduce Bob Heil, and when he handed him the microphone, the mic died!! So, Bob calmly reached into this case, pulled out one of his microphones, and quipped "You know...this happens every where I go". It brought the house down in laughter!!
