GoldEd reads the SOUP packets directly.  SOUP2SQ converts between SOUP and
Squish.  SqTool is another you can look at that does the same.  If you have
direct access to the news server, then NGate will write directly to
squishbases, without any intermediate (SOUP) format.  None of these
solutions is mature/flawless yet.
