Hi Mark, as you were just saying about Re: Legality of Commande....

I wasn't addressing the original premise of the thread. I was
addressing your comments about punching a hole in the side of the
tunnel with a car. It ain't gonna happen.
In response to your original premise, the officer on a call with his
lights flashing would have the right of way. The bus, assuming the
officer had his lights on with enough warning, would be cited for
failure to yield. The officer may also have been told to run silent as
a crime may have been in progress. On the other hand, if the there was
no call and the officer was just running a red light to meet his
friends for coffee or whatever, he was wrong and stupid. I don't know
which it was and I doubt you do either.
MR> - - - On
MR> one more note, last summer my friend and i were going to the beach
MR> in his Camaro, we were in the HOV lane just after the tunnel and no
MR> one was in the lane, we were holding a steady 115 (considering his
MR> car has a top speed of around 170 to 180) and i looked over and told
MR> him i saw a undercover cop, he said 'no its not' well about 30
MR> secounds later the officer turned on his little dash light and
MR> pulled around behind us, we slowed down, and pulled over, we turned
MR> down the stereo as he approached the car with a little smile he said
MR> we were going 80 in a 55 instead of 115 in a 55, we agreed, And he
MR> gave him a ticket, when he went to trafic court the officer didnt
MR> show up, the 2nd time at court the officer said he really couldnt
MR> remember what happened due to it happened seveal months before and
MR> we got off free. That was probably the best experance i've had with
MR> a cop, turned out all the other cars on the road were doing 75-80
MR> and he understood that we were teenages and just got out of high
MR> school and it was the 1st days of summer but he wanted ot make sure
MR> we got there ok. And that out 115 was a little to fast and to slow
MR> it down to aroud 80 or so, I just wish i could remmeber this
MR> officers name. I'd like to thank him
I don't know what you mean by a HOV lane, but if you were in a
populated area, running 115 is absolutely stupid. I have driven cars
capable of very high speeds and have done so either on a straight
stretch bo almost deserted highway or on a track. I don't do that in
populated areas. I may be able to handle the car at those speeds but
how about the people that I meet on the road? Can they?
