Same here, but I did go a bit bigger this time around (with a Ford Taurus,
it's actually quite long compared to a compact car)
I got it because of the price mainly, but after coming off an accident
where a SUV tried to pass me without going around, I wanted a little more
metal behind me.
It's really weird, but I attribute that want to the rental car they gave
me, it was a tiny little thing with a hatchback that made anything
following close look like they were in my back seat.
I can't fault how my Subaru protected me though -- I wish I could have
afforded a replacement that I'd be as comfortable with. (another Subaru, of
course. )
