Goodyear aims high (14-Oct-98) - Goodyear is pulling out all the stops to leave F1 as World Champion. The American company is carrying out two parallel tyre tests this week, one with Ferrari is at its Fiorano and Mugello test tracks, the other with Williams at Magny-Cours in France. The data from both teams' tests will be correlated before the final tyre specification for the Japanese Grand Prix is chosen. That has to be done this week to allow enough time to manufacture the tyres and ship them to the Far East. The teams are understood to be working on new tyres picked from a huge number evaluated at Barcelona two weeks ago. It is hoped that Goodyear might be able to find an improvement of as much as 0.5s in the new tyres. The indications are that McLaren tyre supplier Bridgestone will select one of its existing tyres for the race. --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
