The Aquaclear doesn't aeorate that tank that much, other than breaking
some serface tension.  Does it have an undergravel filter with a riser
tube?  If not I would recommend one.  I'm certain they are manufactured
for hex tanks, or you could even use half of a 10 gallon undergravel
filter.  That would provide fine aeoration, as well as biological
filtration.
