The things were never really designed for boating. They are really designed
to be used by places like golf courses and schools. I've seen some of the
larger models in use at Arizona golf courses. They detect the storms
well before they are in visual or hearing range. On a boat though it would
probably end up just being another gadget that sits underneath the spare
life jackets and discarded fishing tackle. :)
