There was the idea kicked around to have Saavik standing behind Grammer as 
his first officer on the Bozeman.
As aired, though, Saavik could not have been aboard the Bozeman when it 
jumped through time.  The Bozeman was from the year 2278.  Saavik graduated 
from the Academy circa 2285 (ST2).  Too bad, woulda been a nice touch.
