JH> I am very interested in scuba diving. Altho I have never do it
JH> before. I am looking for a GOOD place with good prices for lessons...
James: Following is a list of prices for certification and basic
equipment. The prices in your area are probably a little different.
Scuba Certification: Tuition + Books = $200
Rental Gear for your cert dives = $55 for the weekend
Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Weight Belt and dive boots: $200
(most dive shops will require you to purchase these, but
a few might rent them).
Scuba pack (Buoyancy Compensator, Regulator, and Instrument Console)
A scuba pack costs $450 to $1500 depending on options and quality.
You get what you pay for like anything else.
Wetsuit: $250 to $350 for a 1/4" thick suit, 1/8" thick suits
cost maybe 40% less
This is the minimum equipment to get started. Later on, you will
probably get accessories like dive lights, slate, knife,
spare parts kit, dive computer, etc, etc.
