I simply needed a program to filter an enviorment variable, so what i did was
simply getenv the var, filter it, and send it to standard out, which then was
piped into a set command from a script. Maybe a bit crude, but it works, its
simple, and the change sticks around in the enviorment I need it in.

I'm in need of a string class that will work ratehr uniformally on systems,
seams as though HP-UX simply let out the string class. If you happen to know
where I can obtain a well written string class that will compile on a varity
of compilers, please let me know, Oh, it does not have to be fancy, just need
to be able to store stuff in it, concat, and index it.
