Same equipment, but using OS/2. A while back I did some experiments
and discovered that for me there was no real difference between SQUISHP
and SQ386P. (the OS2 versions -- I could not get SQ386 to run for some
 reason).

I posted a set of comparison times and in the discussion that followed
it was stated that the 386 versions don't begin to shine until you have
much larger packets than I have. My packets tend to be 300 to 800
messages at a time, 200K to 600K or so. (I run maximus to support my
own personal use on my point). Folks with large BBS, tossing
thousands of messages at a time, said that the 386 version worked
better for them. It may have extra load time/startup time and so I
was not seeing the advantage of the more power.

One thing I discovered as a result of that discussion is that you will
get a very significant speed up factor if you do not use a number of
message limit, but trim your database by time instead. This is
apparently well known to others, but was news to me. It doubled my
 processing speed.
