I keep seeing an advertisement by ADT showing a gun and a telephone, noting 
that the gun can't call the police.  What they fail to note is that the phone 
won't keep the guy who cut your phone lines from doing you harm - a gun has a 
better chance of doing that.  I can see me now pointing a phone at 
one....
