If the weight was low enough to make it firable one
handed (hence the term HANDgun) the rate of fire would
be so high the recoil would make it uncontrollable.  To
reduce the rate of fire the slide would have to be so
heavy to make it to heavy to carry.

I know that feeling.  I've been trying to save up for a
nice stainless steel 4" double action 45 Long Colt
revolver.  But so far it has turned into a new washer
and then into a new water heater then into an ER visit
now it has turned into a dental work for the wife and
daughter.
