AM> KS> Sadly I saw that between the 71' engines and the 72's there was a big
AM> KS> drop inpower, but I worked on a 72 SS Chevelle with a 454/270 HP
AM> KS> engine and it ran nice even though I actually didn't try it far as I
AM> KS> was only bringing the car in for some work.
AM>That's still a lot of power for a Chevelle considering the torque is
AM>still quite high. A lot of the detuning took away the top-end HP.
I may have driven this guy's car less than a minute, but it still had
that muscle-car feeling in it. I was surprised to see his Chevelle
had dual-points on it, that wasn't a normal was it? I had changed my
Nomad around and very few parts were stock, but this guy said he hadn't
touched the engine?
AM> KS> BTW, I have the book "50 years American Automobiles", but it only
AM> KS> goes up to 1989, is there a newer book?
AM>That's the only one I've seen, but if you find one let me know where. I
AM>would prefer one from 1950-1999 or similar.
Sure will, right now I'm working on the house, but when better weather
rolls around, I'll be getting back to my old favorite pastime since
I'm not married anymore. I'll be checking the bookstores and if I see
anything you might like, I'll jot it down and mention it to ya.
