Actually, I was not quite right in my last post about 'Ma Bell' telephone 
cabling.  Bell wire is actually one pair, non-twisted, about AW22 guage I 
believe.  A bit thicker than the typical 'telephone' wire in your house but 
just as bad for networking. :)
Bell wire is what is typically used in your home to connect your door bell to 
the door bell switch at your front door (and, of course, the transformer that 
powers the bell).
