Hi James!
JH>I am looking for a GOOD place with good
JH>prices for lessons...
I'm not personally familiar with the shops in the
Kissimmee/Orlando area, but I'd recommend that you
spend some time visiting the dive shops in your area.
Take your time, look around at their equipment
selections and ask lots and lots of questions about
learning to dive and purchasing some dive gear.
You should be looking for a store where you feel
"comfortable" and the clerks & instructors take the
time to answer your questions.
Dive lessons down here in Ft. Lauderdale range from
a low of $99 to about $250. Make sure that you're
being quoted the "total" price including books, dive
tables, pool costs, and checkout dive costs.
As far as the cost of equipment, my suggestion would
be for you to start with the basics of mask, fins, snorkel
and weightbelt. Expect to pay at least $150 for a
quality brand-name setup. I'd advise against rushing
to your local discount store and trying to get by with
the "$39.95 Special" as that equipment generally doesn't
fit very well and it has a bad habit of falling apart
very quickly.
Let us know if we can answer any other questions.
