Best and easiest way to check a head gasket is: 1)If there is water in the 
oil, 2)Oil in the water, or 3)if you remove the radiator cap (cold), start 
the engine, and if it spits out the radiator when you rev it up, you have a 
gasket which is in need of replacement.

Look on top of the oil fill cap. If you see milky oil, you have a head gasket 
or cracked head. (Not sure if this is ok but....) I manage a salvage yard 
with nation wide search for parts, I can get it for you if you need it.
