Herbert and Wurz in qualifying battle (31-Oct-98) - Alexander Wurz has blamed Johnny Herbert for his ninth place on the grid for tomorrow's Japanese Grand Prix. The Austrian driver, who is aiming to help Benetton secure third place in the constructors' championship said: "I drove the car close to the limit, but unfortunately on my last run I was held up Johnny Herbert." He admitted that he had accidentally got in the way of the British Sauber driver earlier in the session: "I didn't see him in the mirrors and he returned the favour! He held me up, of course, and that meant it was difficult for me to improve my time." Wurz accepted his grid position wouldn't help Benetton in their championship challenge: "So, I am in ninth place, Giancarlo is 10th, and we have to think carefully for a very intelligent strategy for the race if we are to take third position in the championship." --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
