-=> Jay Emrie said to Greg Mayman -=> about "ALTERNATOR RATINGS" on 01-20-03 21:32..... JE> I toe a 34' travel trailer with a Chevy PU - automatic JE> transmission. It has a tach which is very valuable when I JE> start going up steep grades. Watching the tach prevents me JE> from over revving the engine. From overdrive it JE> automatically down shifts without over revving. From 3rd on JE> down I have to watch it. Wouldn't be without it! Hmmm... it seems to me that three LEDs would do the job -- a green one to show the engine was running, and a couple of red ones to show when the engine was under or over speed. But LEDs on the dash wouldn't have the same attraction for customers that a dial-type tacho gives ;-) As I said to someone else, I've never owned a vehicle where I couldn't hear the engine and judge how it was going by the sound, so I'm not really equipped to comment From Greg Mayman, in beautiful Adelaide, South Australia ... You will have a long and unpleasant discussion with your supervisor. ___ Blue Wave/386 v2.30 --- FLAME v2.0/b* Origin: Braintap BBS Adelaide Oz, Internet UUCP +61-8-8239-0497 (3:800/449) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 800/449 1 640/954 774/605 123/500 106/1 379/1 633/267 |
