Karl, that's still inviting trouble: while =you= may stick to 8.3 names,
Win95 and other programs do not. :-(

Karl, there is a =simple= utility that will allow you to move/copy to any
folder; it's called Any Folder and is part of the =great= "PowerToys",
written by MS employees (on their own spare time!). There are a bunch of
other =very= helpful utilities in the PowerToys and it's available free from
MS, any of the popular shareware sites and many better BBSs. I consider
these utilities, especially "Tweak U.I." mandatory; frankly, they should have
been incorporated into Win95 right from Day One.
Hint: the Powertoys are in a self-extracting zip file POWERTOY.EXE; there
have been many upgrades since they were first introduced in the Fall of '95;
some versions did not contain the aforementioned "Any Folder", but the more
recent versions do once again. AFAIK, latest version is POWERTOY.EXE 209,241
11-17-96 10:32p. After you have extracted the files, right-click on
INSTALL.INF and select "Install".... piece of cake. :-)

Sorry, you've lost me; not sure what you mean....
KB> Your right though. It's better than Win3.1 FM...
Yup, and don't forget that it's one of the very few tools that will preserve
all attributes when copying / moving files and directories. :-)
Cheers, Hans
