subject: New Gadget !!!!!!!

My CD search has been delayed after reading the ad in Audio Advisor
and Sam Telligs(sp) Stereophile article with quick notes on the British X10-D
CD Enhancer. I purchased one from Audio Advisor (they are now sold out and
will be a couple weeks before getting more) and "banged" it into my system
yesterday. Whoa !!!!!!
Everything they said and more is true!!!! The result is nothing less
than a transformation of my CD capabilities! I cannot now imagine going
without
it. As a matter of fact I intend to purchase a second unit for my office.
No kidding, this is one "tweak", gadget, add-on, gizmo, that is worth
every cent of the $199 price. And I can say that without reservation nor
apology. One of these should be a part of every serious music lovers hifi
system, regardless of philosphy on tweaks, add ons, or existing equipment.
To quote Sam Tellig, "there is more "THERE" there".
My CD quest will have to wait another week before resumption. But in
answer to your question...I am not that far out in the boonies that we do not
get the latest CDs in the stores. It is a problem of them always being sold
out of anything worth having. There are several national chain record/CD
shops in the malls plus places like Circuit City and Best Buy that offer a
pretty good selection. The main problem here is the radio stations. We lack a
variety as the age make up of this area is polorized to retirees and top
twenty stations. Very little in between. As a matter of fact there is no New
Age station, one jazz station that plays about 50% Pop and we went several
years without a classical station!!! Can you believe that? There are about
twenty other stations playing pop, hard rock, two oldies and several pop
country.
As a result, word of new albums, etc, have to come from other sources
and often leave me feeling like I live in a cave. So when I do run across an
exceptional CD, it is reason for celebration! But, I have now/again blown my
allotted CD splurge monies and will have to wait a few days to try again.
I did find an on-line (Internet) Music shop out of NYC that has an
in-house search engine by 1. Type, 2. Artist, 3. Song/Album Name, 4. Index by
type. facility that allows on line lookups and ordering. Prices are
reasonable. and shipping is fast. So if I cannot find it here and support the
local community, I often use mail order. I cannot get to the address where I
am now at but will post it for you so you can have a look.
Oh, BTW, was unable to get your WEB Page yesterday. It came back
several times unable to locate it. I am sure it was on this end. My ISP is
going through very severe growing pains.
Cheers, John
