That sounds about right. I think the standard length is 2 metres.

In my 40yo house, there was no legal requirement to have any
power outlets at all. AFAIK that still applies.
For convenience when the house was built we had one in each room
except for two in the kitchen and two in the lounge. This has
naturally been increased over the years.

IIRC, without going back over the mail, I was referring to the
floor polisher I was given about 20 years ago that we are still
using
