GD> No one wants to get involved. If more people would get

GD>
RW> Because they are law abiding people and the laws have
RW> disarmed them. Two armed gang members can control a
 RW> hundred unarmed people.
GD>
GD> You don't need a gun to call the police, or to yell out into
GD> the street, to tell someone to stop loitering in front of
GD> your house.
And if the person you tell to stop loitering in front
of your house decides to beat the shXt out of you? As
long as the law abiding people are forced to rely on
the police for protection the criminals are going to
have the advantage.
GD> Besides, we haven't totally disarmed everyone, yet. There
In most major cities the only people armed are the big
shots, the police and the criminals. Look at the three
biggest examples; NYC, LA and DC.
In DC it is illegal to own a handgun and most long guns
and we all know how well this has prevented crime.
In NYC, if you don't have political connections and
lots of money you will never get a CCW. AAMOF, NYC
doesn't even honor NY state CCWs. And if you don't
have political connections and money the odds of even
getting a permit to buy a firearm in NYC are very
small. And you can see by the years of low crime rates
how well these laws have worked.
LA is very similar to NYC, no political connections and
money no weapon.
GD> are some people who have been fighting to keep that right,
GD> and have been somewhat successful.
Very little success. The only state in the union that
has the right idea is Vermont. All the others require
you that you either prove you are innocent or give up
your right to privacy before the allow you to exercise
your right of self defence and your right to bare arms.
Most of those require you to pay a fee before being
allowed to exercise these rights, which I thought the
USSC had ruled illegal. But what do I know I have
never went to law school, I've only read the
Constitution.
