WARPING through life, a discussion about caution: blind dive is had with
EERY
MILLER
I've just started receiving this echo on my BBS and have read the posts
regarding Blind Diver. I agree with your assessment of the dangers involved
and
the risks to the marine habitat.
Divers have been, for the most part, responsible in their diving. As such, I
find it somewhat disconcerting to hear of a person who is blind and wants to
engage in an activity that is skill oriented and requires vision to safely
accomplish the activity. Besides, WHY would a blind person wish to SCUBA?
hey
wouldn't be able to experience the underwater vistas, see the fish or coral,
or
other marine life. What this sounds like to me is someone who is trying to
prove a point that there's nothing they can't do.
Reallity unfortunately, creeps in and certain things require a person to be
able
to see. Not "guess" based upon auditory or other sensory receptors. Sadly to
say, SCUBA is one of those activities for the reasons you listed in your
post.
