I do understand your sentiment, but considering how many men died under
this banner for reasons of honor and individual and state's rights (look
how pervasive the federal government is in our lives today) I believe they
should be honored and those who choose to hate should be taken to task.

Otoh, I don't think anyone sees the swastika as anything but a symbol of
hate and horror.

Not many years ago the KKK got a permit to march in Charleston. I don't
know of any organized group except the confederate reenactors who protested
against them and their use of the battle flag to promote hate.

Fwiw I do not fly the battleflag, only the SC state flag, US flag, and
sometimes the "Don't Tread on Me falg of the Marines of the
Continental Navy at times. I understand why blacks may choose to see the
battleflag as a symbol of disdain. But with it flying over a confederate
war memorial, I think that is a good place to put it.
