8 goldfish and 1 Koi?  Then you must have atlest a 255 gal. Tank? :)  If
the Koi is adverage, and the goldfish are still small (less than two
inches), then you could get by with a smaller tank.  I've never seen
Koi kept in a tank, only a pond, so I'm not the expert here, but I've
never seen Koi that were all that small.  Goldfish being the waste
spewing fish that they are, need alot of room.  Nothing agianst goldfish
here... Just sharing my experience.
I once had about a dozen goldfish in about one dozen 1 gal. pickle jars
all over my house.  I found an old bathtub and sunk it into the ground
for a pond and put my goldfish into it.  It was pretty much
self-sustaining, i never fed them.  They lived in that bathtub for
years, (winters and all) and would have lived for more if I didn't have
to move.  I gave them away at that point.
