New Hampshire seeking its first multiple winner in 20th series race

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 11, 2006) -- There are six tracks on the 2006
NASCAR Busch Series schedule where no event winner has been able to repeat
the feat.

New Hampshire International Speedway is among those tracks and also is the
venue with the longest list of one-time winners. Entering Saturday's New
England 200, 19 different drivers have been to Victory Lane after winning at
the 1.058-mile track.

Last year's winner, two-time NASCAR Busch Series champion Martin Truex Jr.,
isn't entered in the race, so if the first multiple victor is to be crowned,
he'll come from a short list of three veteran drivers -- two of whom competed
in the inaugural series race held at the track on June 15, 1990.

Kenny Wallace (No. 22 AutoZone Ford) and Derrike Cope (No. 49 Advil Ford)
were those drivers; they both followed with victories in subsequent events.
Wallace won in 1991 while Cope registered his only series win there in 1994.
And the '94 series champion, David Green (No. 27 Kleenex Ford), won at New
Hampshire in 2003.

Memphis Motorsports Park (seven) has the next-highest number of different
NASCAR Busch Series race winners. Chicagoland Speedway and Kentucky Speedway
-- both claiming first-time winners this year in Casey Mears and David
Gilliland, respectively -- are next with six. Kansas Speedway has had five
different winners in its races while the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez road
course in Mexico City has produced different winners in its first two races.

Wallace offers several theories on why the track hasn't produced a repeat
winner.

"I think New Hampshire is a real difficult track to get around," he said.
"It's a very slippery track and I don't think that there is one particular
team that has a handle on it every year. They change the track surface an
awful lot and I think that has something to do with it."

As for the difficulty of becoming the first two-time winner?

"Every week is a new week and a new beginning," Wallace said.
"There was a
movie years ago called 0x0865Any Given Sunday' and I feel that way every
week. I feel like I could win any weekend, you just never know in this
business. That's why I love competing in NASCAR because every weekend is a
do-over."
