Dear George De Bruin...
GDB> The latest version of QEdit is 3.0c. You can FREQ it from us:
GDB> 1:133/314.
Just how does one file request the latest version of qedit from
1:133/314?
I have tried every combination I can think of for a filename or
magic word, the latest being
qedit30c.zip
qedit3.zip
qedit3c.zip
qedit
qedit30c.arj
...
with the negative result "File missing or password error."
Why not use the magic word 'qedit' for anyone wanting the latest
version?
Please help.
The reason I am asking is that I have just created a utility for
Proboard which includes the requirement for editing a text file
which is more than 700 columns wide. Through my documentation
for the utility, I continually mention how easy it is to edit
this file with my QEdit and TSE, recommending them for the task,
and suggesting that anyone wanting QEdit can file request it
from me using the magic word, "qedit".
The latest shareware version I used before purchasing QEdit and
TSE was 2.1, for which I have customized keys and help.
As I recall, I have NEVER been able to file request anything
from 133/314, not even 'files'. Why?
Lastly, would there be an objection if I included a customized
copy of the shareware version of q.exe with the utility package
I have put together?
There is absolutely NO CHARGE for the utility, since it reflects
the original shareware philosophy of being a program I have
developed for my own use which I am offering for use to anyone
else who might want to use it. All of these people would be
Proboard sysops, so that set of users would be a limited one.
I am pretty sure the answer is "No!", but it's worth asking. If
the answer is negative, I will likely simply include the .dat
and .hlp files with which someone who already has QEdit could
customize their own version.
See you.
Larry
