I enjoyed the tale of the ex-multijet driver who had no idea of piston engine 
airplanes. Reminded me of many years ago when I took a fellow who worked with 
me who had been with the first USAF class that went through flight training 
with all turbine equipment. I took him up in the Aeronca 7AC and he was much 
the same as your experience. Like you, I ended up making the first landing. 
His last experience had been F-84s.
