HI Sara,
SG> This come from a Heloise column in the newspaper today. She said In a
SG> cardboard box, mix equal amounts of borax, white cornmeal adding 3
SG> tablespoons salt for each quart you mix up.
SG> Put the flowers in, put the lid on the box and leave it there for about
SG> 14 days. Make sure the flowers are covered well using a one inch layer
I haven't dryed flowers this way yet though I have thought about it!
All my air dryed flowers are used for wreaths or for dryed flower arrangments
done in vases or baskets.
Most of the dryed flowers are actually "pressed" and those I use on cards.
Thanks so much for the reciepe for the drying powder! I haven't really done
it this way as the silca sand at the stores has been a bit pricy and I'm
reluctant to spend that many dollars on a craft I'm not sure I really like.
What types of flowers have you dried this way? I was thinking that my day
lillies, asters, iris, colombine, cone flowers, and holly hock would be nice
to do this way. The more delicate ones like lillies and iris are impossible
to air dry.
Gail
