Teams heading for legal dispute over designer

(01-Oct-98) - The dispute between Arrows and Stewart over the future of
ex-Jordan technical director Gary Anderson looks likely to end in legal
action.

Arrows is on the verge of issuing a writ to stop Anderson moving to
Stewart. But sources disagree on whether Anderson, who left Jordan in July,
has signed a binding contract with Arrows.

The 47-year-old Irishman is believed to have changed his mind about Arrows
when he was told that the team will not be designing a new car for next
season. It is also thought that he was put off by the team's relatively
tight budget.

Anderson is now to join Stewart as chief designer under technical director
Alan Jenkins. Rumours suggest Stewart has offered him the higher role when
Jenkins's contract runs out at the end of next year.

"We are working hard to get some new faces," said Jackie Stewart.
"I am reasonably confident that things will fit into place."
