BF>>> Is it the same to live in Yellowknife as it was in Ottawa?

JW>> It's as different as say Halden in Ostfold and Paris, France both in size
 JW>> and climate.

BF>> So, how come you know about Halden?

JW> To be honest I don't. I looked in an atlas for the name of a town with the
JW> same population and latitude that I thought you might know.

Halden is a town in Norway, 100 km north of me and don't you compare us
to a place in Norway. :-)

JW>> We are about 1600 km north of Edmonton, Alberta

 BF>> Puh......
BF>> Don't find Alberta on my map, only Alberta City, Alabama.

JW> You would need a map that shows the ten provinces as well as all the
 JW> cities.

I missunderstood you. Alberta is a province, not a town.

BF>> We do have an Alberta here in Sweden. :--)

JW> Named after royalty called Albert, no doubt.

I don't think so. Albert is a male name and Alberta /could/ be a female namn
but I have never heard of any woman with that name.

JW> Driving a car (and paying for a hotel for one night) is about the same as
JW> one airplane ticket but cheaper than two tickets if my wife is with me.

I see.

BF>> And it must take som time........

JW> Sure. At least 16 hours, usually split over two days. When i was younger I
JW> would drive it in one day.

You have done that? Without any sleep?
Must be a dangerous driver after 10 hours behind the weel.

JW> But my wife has relatives living in many small towns between Yellowknife
JW> and Edmonton, so we often stop and visit. If they put us up for the night,
JW> there's no hotel bills either.

It's very hars for me to imagine the distaces you have.
I can drive to Paris, Berlin, Munich, Prague, Warsaw, Italy and Vienna in
shorter time
then you drive to Edmonton.
Talk about a big county you have.
