Hi Scott,
SD> Have you installed all of the latest NT service packs? I recall
SD> something about that being necessary...
Ah. No, I've been holding off on that. It's a long story, but boils down to
the fact that I installed NT on a 200 meg IDE drive, with the rest of the
server data drives being large scsi drives. There is not enough room on the
system drive to install the service pack. Guess I now have incentive to nuke
the system and start over again without the 200 meg drive.
SD> Do you mean that, when a user enters a line once, it is repeated
SD> multiple times in the ipc*.bbs file?
Nope. Each line the user enters is in the ipc*.bbs files only once. Examining
the ipc*.bbs files while two users are having a conversation shows that the
line just typed is there, as well as several of the previous lines that that
user typed. When the other node displays the just typed line, it also
re-displays the previously typed lines that are still in the ipc*.bbs file.
Taking a guess, it appears that once a line has been displayed, it is not
being removed from the ipc*.bbs file.
Thanks for response. I'll get NT re-installed on a larger drive and the
service pack installed as soon as I can. Will let you know the result.
