-> Recently we had just such a case. Man wanted on FELONY chargds had
-> managed to get a new driver's license with a name that was just a bit
-> different. My better than the average troopers acted confused by the
-> simulairaties and had me call the IDENT section to have them fire up the
-> printer. I called, Read them the number from the photo (Which was
-> included in the felony warrent info) and they printed the same.
Yesterday I had a young miscreant who couldn't seem to find his wallet.
The first name and DOB check came back to a 6'4" 240 pounder and this
kid was 5'7" and 100 pounds if he was lucky. So, after the usual banter
about where he would be headed if he couldn't provide some ID, he gave
me his real name.
When the local PD, who held his Warrant, came out to take him away, they
had a unique setup in their van. It was a laptop (similar to the one I
use for drivers checks and such) but with a High Res screen, and they
had his photo series right on it. They made the final match and away he
went (leaving me with a 48,000 lb garbage truck to deal with).
This kids biggest downside was he really couldn't find his wallet, which
had $600 in it, which he could have used to post bail. We found it and
sent it over to the jail with his boss, so he wouldn't have to spend 5
days in jail.
