Hi Peggy!
PH> Got your block this morning.I really like the Ribbon Star
I'm glad it finally made it's way to your home :)
I thought since you were a beginner, you might like to see some
different blocks. I have a computer program, Electric Quilt 3,
that has a block library. I just select the block I want to print
and it will print out the templates or like the pattern I sent you
which is paper piecing.
PH> Tell me what is paper piecing? Never heard of it i'm still new
Paper piecing is hard to describe but you take a piece of fabric
big enough to cover the #1 area and pin or glue stick it on the
wrong side of the paper. Take another piece big enough to cover
#2 area and put these pieces right side together. Flip the paper
over and stitch on the line on the pattern between #1 and #2.
There is a good book out by Carol Doak "Show Me How to Paper Piece"
I think you should be able to find this one as it is her most recent
book. Flip through the pages to get an idea of what I'm trying to
explain. :)
PH> On the Strip Heart block do you
PH> have to add a the seam?
If you want to use this pattern for paper piecing, your block will
be sewn right on this paper (unless you photocopy it)
If you want to use templates you will have to make up templates with
seam allowances added. Or cut strips 1/2" larger than the pieces
and you don't need templates :) The 1/2" allows for the seam allowance
on both sides.
Thanks Peggy
You're very welcome.
Hope I haven't confused you too much :)

BTW still have to make you up a QBE block and send it out.
